Agro-meteorological Data Analysis

Climate characterization and meteorological Indices are considered to be effective tools to maintain sustainable Agriculture. Climate of a particular region dictates the choice of specific crop, crops and cropping systems. The production potential of the selected crops in the concerned climate dependent upon the prevailing weather of the region. This indicates that climate and weather are important free inputs in sustainable crop management. Though agricultural meteorology is known from time immemorial, due importance is been given know, when a crop species or a technology was introduced much earlier. The present information indicates that climate characterization is very important to manage the crop production from extreme weather events. Though India has been divided into 15 agro-climatic zones (NARP) and 20 agro-eco regions (NBSS & LUP) still the climatic exercise is not done to the micro level.

Through this interactive website as an educational tool, an attempt is made to indicate how meteorological data could be value added to crop planning, sustainable crop management for different villages, mandals and districts for effective agricultural planning.

We profoundly believe that this information is useful to students of Agricultural Colleges, Agricultural Researchers, Policy makers and elite farmers.
